The Qube change log records modifications to artificial influences. Key modifications, defined as alterations to a site's coordinates or impact volume, are logged automatically, as are the creation and deletion of sites and site-purposes. You can also manually add a note to the log whenever you save changes to a site, whether for key modifications or a less significant change.
What is stored in the change log?
The change log records:
- the type of item that was modified/created/deleted: abstraction site, discharge site, discharge site-purpose etc
- the site name and code (for site-purposes, impoundment RDCs and complex influence IDCs this is the parent site)
- the site licence
- any user-added notes
- a summary of key changes to impact volume or site location, or the creation or deletion of the item
- the date
- the name and email address of the user who made the modification
Viewing the change log
The change log can be queried at a number of different levels using the button:
1. At the artificial influence site or licence level
You can view all changes to an individual abstraction/discharge/impoundment/complex site, or for all sites under a licence.
2. For all sites within a catchment
Under the flow estimate results Artificial Influences Catchment Report you can view a log for all sites that were created, modified or deleted within the catchment boundary.
3. For all sites within a water body area or hydrometric area
Right-click on the Qube map in your area of interest and choose "Water body change log" from the pop-out menu.
The change log will list entries relating to sites that were created, modified or deleted within the water body.
If the location selected does not lie in a water body (for example in some coastal areas), Qube will instead list change log entries relating to sites that lie in the remaining regions of the underlying hydrometric area.
4. For all sites within your organisation
Please note that you require Organisation Admin rights to access this functionality.
The organisation-wide change log is accessed via Admin pages, Reports.
Qube will export the entire change log to a CSV file for all artificial influences belonging to your current organisation — the one whose name that appears at the top right of the screen. If you belong to more than one organisation, you can click on the organisation name to switch to a different one.
Using the change log window
The contents of the change log window can be sorted by clicking on the relevant column header.
The log can also be exported to a CSV file; this includes additional information about the parent water body and/or hydrometric area.
Adding entries to the change log
To add a change note to an artificial influence site, scroll to the bottom of the site editor. The change note field is initially disabled (greyed-out):
It is enabled as soon as you modify any of the other fields on the page.
When you click Save, Qube adds your change note to the log.
Key changes
Qube automatically detects, and summarises, certain key changes:
- modifications to the site easting or northing.
- modifications to an abstraction or discharge monthly profile.
- modifications to a groundwater abstraction stream depletion profile.
- modifications to a significant impoundment RDC or complex IDC.
If you click Save, but have not added a note to accompany this key change, Qube will prompt you for one. Adding this manual note is optional; Qube automatically logs the key changes regardless.
